Job Title: HR Assistant
Location: Wales
Scope of the Role
We’re excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for someone to join our HR team in Wales. This role gives you the chance to gain hands-on experience across the full HR spectrum, from recruitment and onboarding to employee engagement and administration, all while working alongside a supportive and experienced team. As an HR Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of our HR function across our sites in Penallta and Newport Pagnell. You’ll help deliver a high-quality HR service across every aspect of our people processes, acting as a key point of contact for both administrative and advisory queries.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
HR Admin
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee records to support smooth HR operations and compliance.
- Preparing and managing essential HR documentation, including employment contracts, offer letters, and any changes to terms.
- Administering employee benefits programmes, including health insurance, pension schemes, and other perks.
- Supporting the day-to-day management of our in-house HR and payroll systems to ensure seamless data accuracy and reporting.
- Assisting with the planning and delivery of wellbeing initiatives and charity events that promote a positive workplace culture.
- Keeping our company organisational charts current and well-structured as teams grow and change.
- Contributing to customer and ethical audits by ensuring accurate documentation and co-ordination of activities.
- Coordinating training sessions as needed to help employees continue growing and developing.
- Monitoring and supporting our absence management process, ensuring issues are identified and addressed promptly.
- Handling sensitive employee data with discretion and care, always complying with GDPR and data protection policies.
Reporting
- Confidently analyse and interpret HR data to create clear, meaningful reports, including absence tracking and key employee metrics.
- Spot trends, support informed decision-making, and help drive data-led improvements across the business.
Recruitment and Onboarding
- Play an active role in our recruitment process – from posting job adverts to scheduling interviews and keeping everything on track.
- Deliver a smooth and engaging onboarding experience for new starters using our onboarding platform, making sure all documents and processes are in place from day one.
Employee Relations
- Be a friendly first point of contact for employee queries, offering clear and supportive guidance on HR policies, benefits, and procedures.
- Help foster a positive and people-focused workplace culture by ensuring staff feel supported and hear.
Project Work
- Support assigned HR improvement projects, focusing on enhancing existing processes, increasing efficiency, and aligning with best practices across the employee lifecycle.
- Participate in the research, evaluation, and implementation of new HR technologies, contributing to the modernisation and digital transformation of HR services.
Key Skills and Attributes:
- Previous experience in a HR admin role (bonus – not a must!)
- Confidence working with databases and HR/MI systems
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
- The ability to juggle multiple queries and tasks while staying calm, and solutions focused
- Strong written and verbal communication skills – you’re comfortable speaking with colleagues at all levels
- A logical and analytical approach to problem-solving
- Excellent attention to detail and a passion for getting things right the first time
- A flexible, can-do attitude – you’re happy to pitch in wherever needed
